Most hunting accidents happen because someone didn't know another hunter was downrange. Quarry's live map puts every active member of your party on the same screen, with a warning the moment two hunters get close enough to be dangerous.
How it works
Each hunter taps Start hunt in the app. Quarry then writes a GPS position every 15 seconds while you're moving and every 5 minutes while you're sitting. Positions are protected by row-level security in the database: only members of your party can read them, never the public — and “End hunt” deletes your live position.
Battery & data usage
Quarry throttles GPS by movement (every 15 s while walking, every 5 minutes at the stand) and keeps the screen awake while a hunt is active. Your position is only shared while Quarry is open in the foreground, so keep it on screen at the stand — a locked phone drops you off the map until you come back.
Privacy by design
When you end the hunt, your live position is deleted. Tracks are only recorded during a Drückjagd if you opt in per drive. Data is hosted in the EU; see the privacy policy for details.
FAQ
- Does the map work without mobile data?
- Map tiles cache automatically once viewed, and Pro hunters can download a whole area for the stand. Your own position works offline; other hunters' positions need a data connection to sync.
- Can a hunter hide from the party?
- Yes. Tapping End hunt removes you from the live map immediately. Logging out does the same automatically.
- Is this legal in my country?
- GPS sharing within a private group is legal everywhere we operate (AT/DE/CH/RS). Quarry never shares positions with non-members, so there's no public broadcast.
